Casey A. Caviness, Band Director

 

 

 

 

Born July 12, 1968 to Jim (USAF RET) and Kay Caviness

This school year makes the 10th year that Mr. Caviness has been the director at LBHS. During the past 10 years, the band has consistently received Superior ratings in both concert and marching competitions and festivals.

 

Mr. Caviness also founded the indoor percussion/guard program, which as been ranked as high as 3rd in the nation 2004 in PIA class.
 
Mr. Caviness graduated from Harrison Central H.S. in 1986 and

attended MGCCC Perkinston Campus and the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1992 Mr. Caviness joined the prestigious USMC Drum and Bugle Corps in Washington, D.C. and served for 8 years before being Medically retired due to a knee injury on Aug 15, 1999. 

 

Some of his favorite teachers and mentors include Mark Reynolds, Col. Truman Crawford, Dwight Hollingsworth, Sherman Hong, Terry Sanders, John Dunlap, Andy Sanders, Pat O’Donovan, Glenn Buckalew, and Joe Evans.

 

 

He has two children - Caitlan and Sean.
